Snow

We got quite a bit of much-needed rain last weekend. This week’s storm didn’t bring as much where I live. I think the storm dumped most of its moisture on Oregon long before its tail end reached us. But yesterday afternoon, clouds moved in from the west again.

Clouds Sat pm

I was sure this one meant business. Sure enough, minutes later we had more rain. Nothing spectacular, but it was a cold night.

This morning when I looked out the back door I saw clouds still piled in windswept drifts above the mountains to the east.

A little later those clouds blew away, and — hey, wait a minute.

What’s that white stuff sticking to the mountain under that big blue sky?

Why it’s a blanket of fresh snow. Mt. Palomar has four inches or so of new snow, transforming our back yard view into something fit for a holiday card. I’m sure some of you in other parts of the country get sick and tired of snow. Here in San Diego County it’s a novelty we get every few years and then only at the higher elevations.

So these pictures are my holiday greeting to all of you. Whatever and however you celebrate this time of year, Happy Holidays to you and yours. We’re celebrating our lovely view of snow — as long as it lasts. It’s melting fast!

Neat. Snow looks best when it is a long way off and there are flowering bushes in the foreground.

Hard to appreciate when you’re stuck under a half-inch of ice here in CT. But I suppose that’s the best you can offer as far as snow—

    Absolutely beautiful area there.

Nice fotos Barbara! The air smells so much better now than after the fires when all that ash was in the air doesn’t it! I didn’t notice before how well you can see those mountains from your house, that is special! We still need a lot more, lets hope it keeps coming!

Mt Hood, here in Oregon, is gorgeous, too, with a deep covering of snow. I just love seeing it on my horizon.

Happy Holidays, Barb! What beautiful photos…makes me just a little nostalgic for California. And what views you have!

I’m trying to eat my way through the holidays and have them be over.
Bah, she says. But we too are AT LAST getting a little rainfall and our
December 70 degree temps have finally dropped. But no snow…yet.

Hope you and yours have a wonderful season.

Lovely photos! Know what attracted me the most? All the green and the flowers! We’ve been buried under that awful white stuff for long enough now. Want some of mine?
