We’ve been busy here raising some rescued kittens born to semi-feral and stray mothers. The mothers have all been spayed, and the kittens have been bottle-raised since they were 2 to 3 weeks old. We’ve found homes for 12 of the 17 kittens (three litters in all), including the two we’re keeping. We have four to five kittens left to find homes for. Please pass the word to anyone you know who is looking for a new member of their family. We’re in north San Diego County, and very near south Riverside or Orange counties.
The older three still up for adoption are nine weeks old. We’ve tentatively called them Greyleaf (male), Poppy, and Daisy (females). We hope to find someone who can take all three, or at least two, since we like to keep siblings together. These are kittens that purr like crazy when picked up and will likely make great lap cats. They have two sisters that were already adopted as a pair. Their mother is a long-haired black cat with gold eyes.
The other two still with us are Dusty (male) and Fran (female), siblings who will be eight weeks on July 3. Fran has been reserved, so we’re hoping she has a home. But if that doesn’t work out, both are still available, and Dusty is still adoptable in any case. Their mother is a tortoise-shell with green eyes.
We’re hoping they’ll go to a home where they’ll be kept indoors, and to owners that can commit to up to 20 years or so of loving care. We also insist on new owners agreeing to spay or neuter these kittens. There’s a re-homing fee of $20 per kitten. Since they were born in the wild, they need a vet check-up as soon after adoption as possible, as well as vaccinations. If you or anyone you know is local and seriously interested in adopting, please use the Contact link to send us a message.

Taking in feral cats is a great thing to do. Rachel, who is long gone, was wandering around the house, practically starved, when we took him (yes, him) in. He was around 17 years. Sabrina was born in a neighbor’s garage. She was with me for more than 21 years. And yes, both were indoor cats.
